Speeding Tickets And Traffic Violations
A large share of the Franklin County traffic tickets I defend come from US-1 through Youngsville and Franklinton, US-401 into Louisburg, and the state routes that connect them, NC-96, NC-98 and NC-56. Commuters heading to and from Raleigh and Wake Forest get cited here every day, often in stretches where the posted limit drops fast.

Yes. Most of my traffic clients don't live in Franklin County. I handle the court appearance so you don't have to drive back. One caveat for out-of-state drivers: I'm licensed in North Carolina only, so I can't advise you on what your home state's DMV or your insurer will do with a North Carolina conviction. I can tell you what the North Carolina side looks like and work to get the best result here.

A prayer for judgment continued (PJC) is a special order that the judge can grant, which makes your traffic ticket a non-moving violation. They're limited: as a general rule insurers disregard only one PJC per household every five years, and the DMV allows two per driver every five years, but you would experience the insurance increase for both tickets. Whether to use one now or save it depends on your driving record, so I never recommend a PJC without having a professional review your record first. Often, we can achieve the same result with a non-moving violation and save your PJC. If your ticket is charged as greater than 25mph over the speed limit (or 90mph or faster), the DMV will not recognize a PJC, even if the judge grants you one!

Only your insurer can answer that for your policy. What I can do is explain what North Carolina's insurance regulations say should happen for a given conviction, and then work to reduce the citation to something that carries fewer insurance points, or none.

You'll have a mandatory court appearance at your upcoming court date in Louisburg, and your license is likely revoked for at least 30 days, under the civil revocation rules. Call promptly. In many cases, after a 10 day waiting period from when you were charged, we can seek a limited driving privilege so you can drive to work while the case is pending.
